What is Assisted Living?
Assisted living should be thought of as a happy medium between Nursing home living and a completely independent environment. With assisted living, you get the best of both! Residents have as much independence as they desire. Comfort, security, personal care and support services are available as needed.
Assisted living communities are created to provide you assistance with basic ADLS (activities of daily living). We are here to help ease the challenges accompanied with independent living at a golden age including the following: bathing, grooming, dressing, and any other daily routines that can become difficult. Some states also allow assisted living to offer medication assistance and/or reminders that will keep you happy and healthy in your new home. The best difference you can notice is that we don't burden you with complex medical assistance that isn't required for every individual living into seniority.
Assisted living communities range from a stand alone residence to being one level of care in a CCRC (continuing care retirement community). Our physical environment appeals to our residents and their families because unlike nursing homes our residents have the luxury of independent apartment style living. Most residencies offer studio or one bedroom accommodations with most featuring kitchenettes with a refrigerator and microwave for your living convenience.
How They are Paid Private funds make up the majority of assisted living payments.Although, some long-term care insurance policies cover licensed assisted living so be sure to check to see if your loved one's insurance policy covers assisted living. Medicaid funds and waivers may also be available in some states to assist with living costs.
